Moderator: David G. Latimore, ICIC

Best known for reversing the 86 year Red Sox curse and leading the team to two World Series victories in the last four years, Larry Lucchino has a much longer track record of success in baseball and in business. Lucchino has significantly increased game attendance at three different baseball franchises, using cutting edge marketing and ensuring that all fans feel welcome. He has advocated for baseball's internationalization, kicking off the 2008 Red Sox season with two games at the Tokyo Dome. But most importantly, he has shown an appreciation for the economic impact a baseball stadium can have on its surrounding community. He set a new standard for ballpark architecture with Camden Yards in Baltimore, successfully pushed to build a new park for the Padres as a catalyst to redevelop an under-utilized 26-block area in San Diego, and in 2001 was among the only proposed ownership group that committed itself to save historic Fenway Park. ICIC President and CEO David Latimore will sit down with Larry Lucchino to learn more about his keys to success and his views about how baseball and business fit into the bigger picture.
