2009 Inner City 100 Call for Entries

The Initiative for a Competitive Inner City (ICIC) is now accepting nominations and applications for the 2009 Inner City 100, a national competition to recognize and rank 100 of the fastest-growing companies in America’s inner cities.

The list, compiled annually by ICIC, illustrates that inner cities have successful and innovative business practices, are tapping into the available inner city workforce and have significant buying power. Some of the benefits of participating in the Inner City 100 include a day of classes for urban entrepreneurs at the Harvard Business School, networking opportunities and national recognition. Past winners state that the Inner City 100 designation helped them get contracts, board involvement, and access to new markets and increased their credibility.

This year, ICIC is proud to announce that BusinessWeek’s SmallBiz magazine will be the media partner for the Inner City 100. With BusinessWeek’s support, we will have a broad platform to celebrate and publicize these companies, and we look forward to working with them to identify inner city economic trends that will help these companies continue to grow.

Nominations will be accepted until September 30, 2008. If you know of a fast-growing inner city company that deserves to be recognized, please click here.

Applications will be accepted until October 31, 2008. To apply for the Inner City 100, please click here.
