Forum Conference Call
"Inner City Foreclosures and Urban Economic Development"
April 22, 2008, 2-3pm EST
VISIT FOLLOW-UP DISCUSSION

Did you know that in America’s inner cities the foreclosure rates are two times higher than in the rest of the city and three times higher than elsewhere in the United States?

Recent research findings from the Initiative for a Competitive Inner City (ICIC) indicate that U.S. inner cities have been disproportionally impacted by the current foreclosure crisis. On April 22, join economic policy experts, inner city civic leaders, and public and private sector practitioners invited by the Inner City Economic Forum for a conference call to discuss the issues raised by this research and the policy recommendations to be developed to address it.

The call will be led by Teresa Lynch, Senior Vice President and Director of Research at ICIC and Dr. George McCarthy, Senior Program Officer in the Economic Development unit of the Ford Foundation. To discuss the implications of the current mortgage crisis for America's inner city economies, Ms. Lynch will present results from ICIC's analysis of foreclosure data through 2007 (see full report) and Dr. McCarthy will discuss some of the proposed and actual policy responses and their likely impact on inner city foreclosures and abandoned housing stock. Call participants are invited to contribute to the discussion with concrete ideas and suggestions, and are especially encouraged to share solutions that are being developed or have already been implemented in their respective cities.

To receive details on how to join the conference call, please register through the link above to confirm your participation. Forum Members and special guests of ICIC will have priority for the call if capacity limits are reached.
