Inner City Economic Forum Summit 2008

The Initiative for a Competitive Inner City's Inner City Economic Forum recently held its annual "Summit 2008: Putting the Inner City First" on September 25-26, 2008, Marriott Biscayne Bay, Miami FL.

In partnership with the Brookings Institution's Metropolitan Policy Program, this year's Inner City Economic Forum Summit was a unique and timely event that capitalized on a critical transition point of economic and political change in America. At the Summit, invited policy experts and urban practitioners actively collaborated with participants to create and define concrete recommendations for business development and job creation in inner city economies. As a result of the discussions at the Summit, ICIC and Brookings will collaborate to develop an inner city revitalization policy paper that will be presented to US national leadership in 2009.

Overview of Summit 2008
Right now is an opportune moment for policy, business and civic leaders to sit at the table together to focus on the enabling role that federal policy can play in a sustainable, business-led revitalization of America’s inner cities. Participate in the Summit to ensure that the opportunities and challenges of the inner city economy are positioned at the forefront of the federal agenda.

For two days, national thought leaders join urban business and civic practitioners from cities across the US for interactive and action-oriented working discussions. These sessions will result in the development of a detailed roadmap for policymakers on how the federal government can act to strengthen and benefit inner city economies while contributing to the overall economic health of America.
