The Since the list’s inception ten years ago, 12,000 companies have been nominated and 519 companies have made the Inner City 100 list. Winning companies range from restaurants, to healthcare providers, to clothing manufacturers. This diverse group comes in a variety of sizes, from 10 to 5,800 employees, and revenues of just over $1 million to over $860 million. They come from 137 cities and 41 states in the United States.

These companies:

  • Have been responsible for the creation of almost 57,000 new jobs
  • Employ nearly 76,500 people, of which approximately 30,000 are inner city residents (41%)
  • Have averaged 668% growth in sales over five years, for an average compound annual growth rate of 53% 
  • Have average revenues of over $23 million
  • Have average ethnic-minority representation of 32% - an astounding 300% higher than the national minority-ownership average of 7.9%
